In this full day program Dr. Malamed will discuss the areas which are considered vital to a proper understanding of emergency medicine: prevention, preparation, and the basics of recognition and management.

He will discuss preparation of the office and staff, including a review of recommended emergency drugs and equipment. Dr. Malamed will then discuss recognition and management of specific emergency situations including unconscious, respiratory distress, seizures, allergy and chest pain.

This course is designed for all members of the dental office staff, not just the doctor and chairside personnel. Situations discussed here can happen outside of the dental environment as well as in the office. Everyone should be prepared!

Attendees can expect to learn several “do’s” and “don’ts” and the ABCs to XYZs of pediatric dentistry. This presentation will cover:

Asthma treatment, allergic reactions, antibiotic dosing, and airway obstruction.

Breastfeeding, behavior management, including medical immobilization and usage of nitrous oxide, and “baby bottle” decay.

Caries arresting medicaments, including contraindications and indications of SDF, and when to be “Dr. Save a Tooth” vs. extract in primary dentition, as well, when to “Fill” or restore with a stainless-steel crown.
